LondonEdge Blogger Meet Up With Jawbreaker

Yours truly taking herself very seriously, as per.

Whilst everyone else on planet Earth spent Sunday nursing their hangover, a number of particularly dedicated bloggers headed to Kensington Olympia for the London Edge event to scour out items for future outfit posts, hang out and generally have a rad time. Upon arrival we were handed a massive bag of goodies and a glass of Prosecco so it was obvious that it would already be a great day. Surprisingly I wasn't yet tipsy in the photo above where I'm flailing about in my new Jawbreaker dress, just overly excited.

Being reunited with a bunch of cool cats* that I'd met at the last event back in September was really great and it was great fun going round together ogling at all the clothes on offer. My absolute favourite items included the Iron Fist Care Bear collection, everything the Yummy Gummy latex brand has ever made and one particular dress by House of Intelligence which at first appeared to be an allover print of space but was actually an image of cancer cells under a microscope.

Outfits suitable for a space empress.

Selfies with Sabrina, Isabella, Samantha, Susan and Kent from throughout the day and a customised Furby hat by Gobbolino UK
Iron Fist's sheer Care Bears shirt that I need in my wardrobe ASAP.

Samantha and Isabella on the afterparty bus on it's way to Gem bar, unfortunately I have no pictures after this point due to free bar reasons.

Source: Not Found

Here's an outfit moodboard inspired by errors that's fit for any glitchy princess or computer virus.

Light up shoes were all the rage when I was a tadpole, my parents unfortunately never bought me a pair but I was forever jealous of anybody who had some.  Earlier this year when the Ashish x Buffalo collaboration hit the catwalks, I was instantly in love but obviously I wasn't the only person enamoured by the majestic platforms because they immediately sold out when they were released in Topshop. Although these light up trainers from Inu Inu aren't platforms, they're super cheap and will do just as well. They'll be way easier to walk in too.

Little Monster

AAAARRRRRRRRGHHHHHH!!!! I honestly can't believe I've managed to keep my identity as a real life monster a secret for this long - so here it is, here's some outtakes of the evidence. This was genuinely probably the most fun shoot I've worked on so far! :)

Styling by Rie Williams
Photography by Lou Rogers

Photographic evidence that monsters exist and can transform into real life human girls.
That jacket is actually my real face, the head on top is a decoy.
That green fluffy horned hat is a beautiful specimen and should be framed or put on a pedastal somewhere.
Sweet, coy and derp!
An alien passport perhaps?
Additionally to this I'm also working alongside Polyester Zine as a regular illustrator (check out the drawings I created for the 'Fuck Up the Fun' article). I'll also be exhibiting some previously unseen work at their launch party at Doomed Gallery on the 9th September - don't forget to RSVP the event here!

The White Pepper

Just letting you guys know that the reason I haven't been posting as frequently these past couple of weeks is because I'm currently two weeks into my a month long probation period at THE WHITEPEPPER.

It's pretty fun - my day to day tasks include running the socials, styling sets in Polyvore and creating gifs and promotional graphics. I also get to write weekly blog posts on the hip-happening (lol) places to go at the weekend.

They recently just launched the new Summer collection which I helped source some props for. All the photos including in this post contains something from my bedroom - including Zebedee the bunny I've been looking after. She was surprisingly well behaved on set and I wish she could come into work with me every day. The shoot was obviously heavily influenced by Alice in Wonderland.

Keep an eye out on the socials (the username is usually thewhitepepper) as they'll be announcing a sample sale within the next week or so - it will be a great chance to grab a cute bargain.

Liebster Award

Carrying on a chain-quiz reminds me of ye olde days of MySpace so obviously I'm not going to say no to the Liebster Award tag. It's designed to find new blogs to read and for people to promote the newer or lesser known blogs that they are interested in. Thank you so much to Emily of Fantasma Velvet for tagging me!

There are different rules and variations but I'm going to stick with the way the people before me have done it. I'll be responding the the quiz Emily set, will propose my own questions and then select eight blogs to carry on the game.

1. First thing's first: list three random facts about you.

I'm allergic to wasp stings, drink four to eight cups of jasmine green tea a day and currently work part-time at Urban Outfitters.

2. When did you start blogging and why?

I've had blogs for as long as I can remember because I lived in the middle of nowhere and wanted to reach out to people with similar interests. Chronic Sans was born from finishing a social media internship at a screen printing company where part of my role was to write fashion-based blogposts

3. What's your favourite thing about blogging?

My favourite thing about blogging is that I have a place to store all my outfit ideas as a sort of styling scrapbook whilst getting feedback from others.

4. What's your least favourite thing about blogging?

I always want to post my own outfits but it's difficult to find people who are free to take photos of me. It's also difficult trying to get fun complete outfits together if I'm working with press loans, eg. if I'm borrowing an item from one company and something else from another and one arrives after I've already had to sent the other item back it can be quite annoying. I'm always thankful for people willing to loan me things though!

5. What are your favourite type of posts to read?

I love seeing bloggers post their self-styled outfits featuring either brands I already love or brands I haven't heard of yet. It's good to follow people who have similar tastes in trends.

6. List five of your favourite blogs.
Those were just the first five that came to mind - love all their visual styles.

7. What's your favourite beauty brand and why?

Urban Decay were always my favourite but after hearing that they test on animals I'm slowly trying to switch over to Illamasqua. I'd love to get my hands on some Limecrime lipsticks - hopefully soon they'll be big enough to be sold in UK stores.

8. What's your favourite clothing shop/web store and why?

Dolls Kill sells amazing clothes but I hate having to pay for international postage. Maybe ASOS actually because they have some really cool brands such as Freak of Nature and Evil Twin in stock and you can get things delivered for literally the next day.

9. List three of your favourite movies.

Jurassic Park, Blade Runner and Jawbreaker.

10. List three of your favourite bands/singers.

My music taste varies a lot depending on what mood I'm in. Recently I'm listening to a lot of Danny Brown, Angel Haze and ASAP Ferg

11. List three celebrities (dead or alive) that you wish you could have dinner with.

Pete Burns, Grayson Perry and Willam Belli.

And I nominate:
  1. Opaline Queen
  2. Linabugz
  3. Fashion Scholar
  4. Ceedling
  5. Velvet Daisy
  6. Candy Coated Fashion
  7. Heychubble
  8. Nashbag
The questions to answer:
  1. What's the meaning behind your blog name?
  2. What's your current favourite style or beauty trend?
  3. Do you prefer shopping online or physically on the high street?
  4. Which fictional character are you most similar to style-wise?
  5. How did you get into blogging?
  6. If you could meet any blogger - who would it be?
  7. What was the first pair of shoes you ever bought?
  8. If you could bring back something to wear from your childhood - what would it be?
  9. What's your favourite magazine?
  10. How would you react if the internet was to disappear forever?
  11. If you were invited to a fancy dress party with no specific theme, what would you like to go as?

Bill+Mar-vellous = Roundup

Lurking down alleyways in a Bill+Mar shirt dress
As promised - here are more images from my collaboration with Bill+Mar - you can buy the main pieces that I'm wearing from their shop. These aren't all the images, there were so many good or funny ones that'd it'd take forever to edit and post them all. Saying that, some of these images are completely unedited. If you want to see more - keep an eye out on the Bill+Mar social media channels.

Photography by Anna Yeung, styling and everything else by me.

Bill+Mar Feature

Wearing Bill+Mar's 'In The Sky' shirt dress, Topshop harness and socks, River Island coat, Demonia creepers.
I've been featured and interviewed on the Bill + Mar blog! Not only that but I modelled, styled and did the makeup and art direction for the accompanying photos. All the photos were taken either in my house or round the corner on Brick Lane and were taken by Anna Yeung.

This is just a quick update with a link to the post because I clearly can't contain myself. I'll upload more photos in a later post so keep an eye out!

Meadham Kirchhoff x Topshop

Today the new Meadham Kirchhoff collection for Topshop was released! The collection is based on an imaginary four piece girl band, The Cherrys, who each have their own signature style. Obviously each item is cutesy and kitsch, because Meadham Kirchhoff, and a lot of the stuff draws inspiration from the 1970's. It's as though the designers watched The Runaways and then were left to their own devices.

Of course the item I wanted most (the red heart pinafore on the left) was sold out by the time I checked the website this morning, not that I could afford it anyway, but I decided to mock up what I'd like most from the collection and how I'd style them if every item of clothing I'd ever wanted was suddenly at my fingertips.
